East West Rail Western Section Phase 2 - Round 2 Consultation

Closes 11 Aug 2017

Opened 30 Jun 2017

Overview

Better journeys and connectivity

East West Rail Wstern Section Phase 2 will reinstate and upgrade the railway between Bicester - Bedford and Milton Keynes - Princes Risborough.

Background

We consulted in September 2015 and have taken account of the feedback received to further develop our proposals.

The environment

The railway is a sustainable form of transport. We work hard to reduce our impact on the environment and put rail at the heart of a low carbon economy.

An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the scheme is currently underway and a draft Environment Statement (Draft ES) has been prepared with findings to date.

The purpose of this Draft ES is to inform consultation. It documents and reflects the current stage of the EIA undertaken to date for the Project. The Draft ES describes the likely significant effects arising from the construction and operation of the project alone and cumulatively, the methodology used to identify and assess these, as well as the current proposed mitigation measures to avoid, reduce or remedy these effects.

Round Two Consultation

We will be holding a second round of consultation from 30 June 2017 - 11 August 2017. This is supported by a series of consultation events for the local community and stakeholders to view the consultation materials, talk to the project team and give feedback.
